About this blog
September 18th, 2008Welcome to Westmoreland’s News and Notes blog, a place to share information about ourselves and our church community.
The “community” part of information sharing is easy to understand. The News and Notes blog is designed to alert us to upcoming events, like the all-church meeting quickly called Sept. 14, or the November sessions with speaker and author Diana Butler Bass (more in a separate post on that later.) The News and Notes blog can and should be the place to recruit volunteers for the bazaar or tell us our input is much desired on the Deacons’ worship survey.
But the “ourselves” piece of information sharing is just as important. News and Notes about ourselves certainly include births, graduations, job switches and promotions. But this should also be a place to brag a little. Perhaps our youth will tell us when they have snagged a part in their school musical or survived a snowy boy scouts outing. Those of you who are occasionally seen on TV can alert your built-in fan club to coming appearances. Our personal birthday celebrations (no ages required), our travels, our visits from children and grandchildren — all are the type of news or notes that tell us a little more about one another and help us get to know our friends and community better. Besides, news and notes will make great conversation starters for coffee hour chat.
Of course, the News and Notes blog is just one place you’ll get information about Westmoreland. But the idea is to make it a place you’ll come to regularly to keep up on your community. Lorrie Lynch Meier, a professional journalist and blogger and cochair of the Board of Membership and Fellowship, will edit the News and Notes blog as we get it up and going. But it depends on the community for all its reporting so please send your news, notes, thoughts and questions to Lorrie’s email: lllynch@usaweekend.com.
