The Rev. Dr. Bob Maddox came to Westmoreland in the
summer of 2006, along with 54 other members of the neighboring Briggs
Memorial Baptist Church, and is now our “Minister of Discipleship,”
focusing on Adult Education, stewardship and community outreach. A
graduate of Baylor University, Southwestern Baptist Theological
Seminary in Fort Worth, and Candler School of Theology, Bob has served
as a minister at a number of churches in Texas and Georgia. In 1979 he
came to Washington as speech writer and religious liaison for Jimmy
Carter, and later served as Executive Director for Americans United for
Separation of Church and State. For 14 years he was pastor of Briggs,
until our growing partnership resulted in our now united community of
faith. He also serves as Executive Director of the Briggs Foundation
for Faith and Action. He is married with three grown children.
