How to Join

Visit

We welcome visitors to Sunday worship and all other events at the church. Children are welcome in our Sunday church school and nursery care is available during the worship service for babies and toddlers up to two years old. On Sunday morning you will be welcomed at the entrance to the sanctuary by one of our greeters. Please feel comfortable asking greeters or ushers for directions or assistance. They will be happy to answer your questions or direct you to someone who can help. We encourage visitors to sign our guest book located in the narthex (front entrance).

Get information

Please take one of the informational brochures available in the church pews and stop into our post-worship coffee hour to visit with one of our ministers, our membership coordinator or other church members. All are happy to answer questions immediately and/or help you arrange a meeting to answer questions concerning the church.

Let us know you are here

Many of our members wear name tags and our membership coordinator or greeter may offer you one too. Feel free to wear it or choose to worship anonymously. During the worship service people are encouraged to greet each other and pass the "Peace of Christ." Also, during the service we ask our congregation to pass the fellowship register in the pews for all to sign. This is done not only to learn the names of visitors but also learn the names of other members of the congregation.

Meet our membership coordinator

Our membership coordinator Janet Moyer is a valuable resource for visitors as they become acquainted with the church. Janet may be contacted at the church by phone or e-mail. The number and email can be found below. Also If you don't reach someone immediately, please leave a message and your phone number or e-mail address. We want to hear from you and will get back to you quickly.

Become a member

The process to joining Westmoreland is personal for every member. Our ministers will discuss our Congregational history and our theological perspective; our membership coordinator will connect you with congregation members who share your interests and our members can tell you more about our community. When you feel ready to join, we will arrange a Sunday on which to welcome you officially and joyfully into the congregation.

Not ready to join?

Some people choose not to become a member of Westmoreland and decide to be a "Friend of Westmoreland." Friends of Westmoreland may participate in church activities and be part of the church community. They may serve on most church boards, sing in the choir, take communion and participate in almost all activities. Some people choose to be friends of Westmoreland, in this manner, for several years before joining.
